Choosing a Backpack
If you are looking for a backpack, you will find that you have lots of choice. Whether you are are after a hiking backpack, a travel backpack for backpacking, a laptop backpack or a day backpack, you will find a wide variety of choices.
Tips for buying a backpack
1. Size – this needs to be a compromise between how much you want to put in your backpack and how much you feel comfortable carrying. A backpack should be appropriate for your size and height also.
2. Lightweight – a lightweight backpack will obviously be more comfortable to carry but it may also save you excess baggage fees if you are traveling.
3. Lockable – for traveling lockable zippers are preferable. All compartments need to be lockable including external pockets.
4. Fit – Your backpack should be comfortable to wear when is it fully packed. It should be padded and hug your back comfortably.
5. Internal frame – this is preferred to a rigid external frame. It makes a more stable and comfortable backpack and internal frames are now more popular for this reason. An external frame may be preferable if you are carrying camping gear though.
